Cooks Hill Galleries (CHG) presents BRUCE ROWLAND 'LA DANSE'. This online and in gallery exhibition opens 27th September 6-8pm. Exhibition continues until 14th October 2019.

Bruce Rowland offers the viewer a tribute to ballet in this important and most exciting exhibition. It is a window to a commitment offering insight into the private world of a ballet dancer. Bruce has been given an entree to the lives of the dancers capturing both their personality and their humanity!

It is a rare honour to be entrusted with this incredibly intimate insight; a privilege accepted and respected by a painter who simply understands the art of dance.

When we consider Ballet as a theme for art, it is reasonable to draw parallels from the great artists of the past namely Degas in particular. However, Rowland has created his own interpretation and his presentation of the dancer off a background mood and shadow adds a unique sense of mystery and expectation.

The emphasis on detail - a lace, shine on a shoe, a warm glow emanating from a dancers face - lures the viewer to look more profoundly at the way Rowland paints and the message he unveils within each dancer. - Mark Widdup
