Artists Statement: The concept for this painting came from two old master
paintings which I saw in the U.K. The first was a Titian depicting Venus in the water, and the second was by G.F. Watts showing the goddess Thetis on the seashore.
Both portrayed the nude figure wringing the water out of her hair. The idea was transported to a contemporary setting where a real life model was posed in front of a painted backdrop with seashells as props; an imitation of a Classical theme portrayed
as a theatrical studio enactment. - Bruce Rowland
