The Red Kite

John Maitland

Artist Statement: This painting symbolises freedom returning..... post Covid 19 era. The kite soars  into the sky  free of worldly encumbrance ,  exuberance and exhilaration are palpable as the child controls the skyward flight. The colours, Red and Yellow, symbolic of joy. We are fortunate. One of the few countries to have contained the spread of this viscous virus. As the lockdown eases freedom of movement is slowly  starting to take place, ....but it must be carefully calibrated,  much like the kites string for a smooth flight. - John Maitland.
