Artist Statement: Not what it seems…. The boy is setting his butterflies free, the one dancing around so tantalisingly close is the prize he wanted but Keeps on eluding him!
This elusive butterfly is a metaphor for our recently arrived granddaughter for whom we planned to see earlier this month but Cyclone Gabrielle and floods and washed out roads put all our plans on hold. - John Maitland
