CHG Director's Statement: Robert Jacks (1943–2014) was the cool cat of Australian art.  His works, like his personality, are charming, adroit, cheeky and winsome. Jacks is often represented as an abstract artist—which he undeniably is—and this retrospective emphasises his important role in consolidating abstraction from the late 1950s.
