Reinstate Pluto!

Artist Statement: In this picture, we look at a man alone in the Universe. He is striding forward with purpose, a shaman, a man of the cloth perhaps. But no, looking closer, we see that it is Keith Richards, legendary guitarist and performer with the Rolling Stones.

Despite his bad boy image, Keith is a deep thinker. He has seen the latest images of Pluto from the New Horizons space probe, and he wants to know why Pluto has a heart clearly visible on its round surface, but is still not allowed to be a planet. Keith respects the latest science, but he’s thinking ‘Couldn’t our scientists, just this once, prove they have a heart too, and Reinstate Pluto?’….. I agree with Keith on this one. -Phil Clarke

CHG Director's Statement: From world renowned, high society artist Phil Clarke - who calls Salvador Dali a friend - comes this exciting new selection of surreal art. Just take Dali and Warhol, then add Robert Rauschenberg, and stir… VOILA! You’ve got the brilliant surreal-ness of Phil Clarke.

That’s not surprising, given that Phil lived for ten years in the Spanish village of Cadaques where Dali and his wife Gala entertained a passing parade of artists and hippies.
This is Phil’s first exhibition for eight years in his home town of Sydney, and it seems to me that these are paintings for the Ages. They’re not the product of the latest fashion in art. These are sensitive and compassionate images about love and war and people, and the world around us. Continue reading here.
