CHG Director's Statement: I am particularly fond of her charcoal period of Dickerson’s which illustrates the tonality of the medium and how the artist brings light and dark and contrast to play.
This is a large work on paper and another point of difference is the two figures which are engaged in the action of piling the building blocks to build a tower. I respond to the fact the subject reflects an action and intent by the two boys and it is interesting to observe the concentration on their faces.
The emotion on the boy on the left is highlighted with the raised eye brow, and there clearly is the co-operation between the two boys.
