CHG Directors Statement: Mario Ermer was born in Italy in 1942, Ermer arrived in Australia in 1951. A mostly self-taught artist, he has exhibited in Newcastle and has won several provincial art prizes. Ermer won the Taree Council Art Prize in 1971. 
Mario was a prolific artist. His wife estimated that he had produced hundreds of works revered by the public. 

His painting Victoria Pass, Blue Mountains was selected to hang in the prestigious Art Gallery NSW Wynne Prize in 1974.

His work hangs in Newcastle City Hall and is held in a number of public art collections as far away as Japan.
