Directors Statement: Upon first sight I am drawn to the emtion of the figure composition which draws you to the eyes, mouth, nose, establishing a definite personality.
Ruddy’s ‘Little Blue’ emphasises the emotion of the sitter looking across the left shoulder. There are 3 colours offered which sets it away from being completely monochromatic.
Expressionist drawings in this manner can easily fail to work, however in this composition the artist is in control and compels the viewer to look within the subject.
