Artist Statement: In the work Islander Girls I wanted a symphony of colour and
beauty to adequately describe the tropical Heat and heady
atmosphere of the Islands, the central figure gazes away from
the artist as she passes to fill her basket with ruby red
mangoes for the family table. - John Maitland
