Artist Statement: Even the sound of the words evoke a rising of spirit, a sense of exhilaration, the child soaring into the air, free of all constraints ....the added bonus that goes with childhood, this is a favourite motif of mine,  Always a new way of looking at the subject and inspired by personal encounters which then involves my personal encounter with paint to do justice to my thoughts. - John Maitland.
