CHG Director's Statement:
This work is said to be one of the Perceval’s favourite works depicting his wife Mary. It was kept by him in his private collection uintil close to his death where he sold it to his friend and persoinal assistant Matt Foster.
It was painted on the reverse of the early work ‘Boy crying on the Carlton Street’ 72 x 40 cms which was exhibited widely.
