CHG Director's Statement: Astute Australian art collectors are well acquainted with the works of Joseph Frost. A maritime artist, Frost is regarded for his detailed paintings of Sydney Harbour and sail boats. Born Czechoslovakia in 1953, he arrived in Australia in the 1970s. He has also painted under the pseudonym Julian Morgan.
Frost is recognised for his meticulous brushwork and the mastery of compelling detail in atmospheric paintings of morning or afternoon light, typically on water.
Joseph’s first exhibition was held in 1976 at Proud's Gallery, Sydney. Since that time, Joseph has presented art works professionally in almost every medium - watercolours, gouache, oil, and etching.
