CHG Director's Statement: Australian art collectors; "The arrival of the queen" is an important painting from the Royal Suite, 1995 period, this work being dated 2000. It is from a private interstate collection, in perfect condition, modestly framed. It captures the Sydney skyline with the Harbour Bridge icon in the distance and focuses on the god like representation of the queen. The painting is of further interest being of nocturnal Sydney Harbour subject and quite rare. The theme originates from the artist's childhood memories of the Royal visit of 1954. It presents a romantic mood with the young Queen Elizabeth as a kind of goddess; desirable and at the same time totally untouchable.
