Alfie in the school yard

Artist Statement:  "This has long been a favourite motif of mine. The children's personalities are forged in the school yard environment. this work was painted in exuberance, the title I gave it was written when it happened and I thought I'd leave it written on the back as a record of the event.... although, 'Alfie in the school yard' title still stands." My nephew Alfie's talent was spotted in the schoolyard, on the day I was painting this, he received a call advising him that he had been chosen to play for Ireland against England as was signed up on the same day by England's Derby County GO ALFIE! - John Maitland.
