Bruce Rowland | "Big, Little and In-beween" (Something for everyone)
This exhibition is about demonstrating the ability to work on numerous scales and in different media. In earlier centuries art patrons would demand of their favorite artists that they produce works that would fill an entire wall and at the same time works that were small, intimate and personal.
The challenges of scale become apparent when working on large work where composition and details are compromised. The 19th century French artist Delacroix once advised that you "start with a broom and finish with a needle".
