Jude’s latest body of work reveals once again her deep appreciation of nature, with the play of light and shadow on foliage, the ever-changing light in the landscape, evoking a sense of nostalgia and sentimentality.
Rather than focusing on vast open spaces, we are led to explore the minute details of intimate scenes, full of fine textures and intricacies.

The delicacy and the resilience of nature is celebrated in these works, that somehow resemble silk tapestries, through the use of pencil marks on wood grain.
The oil on canvas works are jewel-like compositions, made rich by applying several thin layers of glazing over many days.

Jude is constantly drawn to light and dark in nature and loves to explore the diversity of trees and shrubs.
She tends to simplify form, giving a subconsciously naive feel, drawn directly from child like instinct, a play with colour and light rather than a realistic point of view.
