ARTIST'S STATEMENT:

‘Collective colour’ by Cheryl Black

Explores valleys often drawn from compositions and inspiration of  mountain ranges and valleys within the Hunter Valley.

The stylised intense colour now a trade mark for the artist is the constant however Cheryl has explored pathways, close foregrounds contrasted by the perspective of a distant mountain ridges or a detail of flowers blooming amongst a blanket of vibrant colour ...... almost vibrating!

Abstracted nature’ by Michael Black

This collection of landscape paintings reference the lower Blue Mountain National Parks in NSW. Heading into nature with my sketchbook, walking, sitting and observing, sketching what is outstanding, be it an interesting colour combination or composition. I try to capture the found scene with oil pastels. Then I return to the studio to start the painting process, using my sketches as a guide for the forms and colour compositions.
