CHG Director's Statement: Bradleys Head, which pushes out into Sydney Harbour from the North Shore, is marked by a small, quaint timber lighthouse mounted on a large pile. In 1934 the mast of the WW1 cruiser HMAS Sydney was mounted on the site of an earlier defensive fort as a memorial to the men killed in Sydney's famous battle with the German raider SMS Eden in 1915. I have imagined it during world war two, with the heavy cruiser HMAS Australia, in wartime camouflage, heading out in the early morning.
